David E. Leffel, 59, of Burlington, died at 9:40 AM Monday, February 27, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
Born October 8, 1957, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert Nevin and Margaret Mildred Pratt Leffel.
David worked at Hope Haven.
He was a 1976 graduate of Burlington High School.
He enjoyed visiting friends at Hope Haven, sewing, embroidering, working puzzle books, watching mystery movies, gardening, and caring for his pet parakeets, Dickey & Sam.
Survivors include his mother; two brothers, Ronald (Ann) Leffel of Estherville, IA, and Ken (Sandra) Leffel of Champaign, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, and three brothers, Robert, Charles, and Larry.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Hope Haven.

Blaine Eldon McNeil, 73, formerly of New London, died of Parkinson’s Dementia on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Great River Klein Center, West Burlington.
Funeral services for Mr. McNeil will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 4, at Elliott Chapel, New London. Visitation will begin after 9:00 Saturday with the family greeting friends from 10:00 until time of the service. According to his wishes, his body will be cremated following the service. A memorial has been established to Great River Hospice, Klein Center Stars Hollow, and the New London Fire and Rescue.
