Dorothy Delaney, 96, of Ft. Madison passed away on Friday,
November 03, 2017 at 9:50
AM at the West Point Care Center.
She was born on June 14, 1921 in St. Paul, IA to Stephen and Clara Moeller Leveling. On May 26, 1945 she married Donald Delaney in Ft. Madison and he passed away on August 10, 1972.
Dorothy worked production at Sheaffer Pen and was a homemaker. She was a member of Ss. Mary & Joseph Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and CLA.
Dorothy was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, playing cards and was an avid Cubs and Notre Dame fan. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events and activities.
Survivors include three sons, Jim (Patricia) Delaney of Ft. Madison, John (Julie) Delaney of Davenport and Patrick (Terri) Delaney of Fishers, IN; two daughters, Beth Rump of Ft. Madison and Dianne (Bruce) Huddleson of Ft. Madison; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Brother Wilbert “Clarence” Leveling of Notre Dame, IN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son in law, Rich; a brother, Father Carl; four sisters, Betty, Irene, Gen and Mildred.
Friends may call after 2 PM on Monday, November 6, 2017 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4:30-6:30 PM. There will be a rosary recited at 4 PM and a wake service will be held at 6:30 PM all at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Darlene Hellweg, 91, of West Point,Iowa died at 5:58 am Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Donnellson Health Center, Donnellson, Iowa.
She was born August 20, 1926 in rural Henry County, Iowa, a daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth (Rotter) Kruse. On June 26, 1948 at West Point she married Cletus Hellweg.
She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker who also worked at several jobs including Sylvania in Burlington, Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, and at the West Point Care Center.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary’s of the Assumption, West Point. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and playing cards.
She is survived by one son, John (wife Elena) Hellweg, of Fort Washington, Maryland; two sisters, Florence Menke, of St. Paul, Iowa; and Glorine Hellweg, of Fairfield, Iowa; three grandchildren: Jessica, Jason, and Jenny; three great grandchildren: Rylie, Kirsten, and Clarabelle; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Betty Kramer; four brothers: Ernie, Richard, Adrian, and Cletus Kruse; and three sisters, Marie Meierotto, Kathryn Meierotto, and Bertha Fedler.
Visitation will be from 5:30 – 6:30 pm Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, West Point, where a Christian Wake service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, West Point with Reverend Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Point.
A memorial has been established for St. Mary’s Church or the West Point Fire and Rescue, contributions may be made at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home or at the church on the day of the service.

Arthur (Joe) Miller, 89, of Danville died at 12:10 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Danville Care Center.
Born January 5, 1928 on a farm South of Burlington. He was the oldest son of Arthur Joseph and Eloise C. (Wiesner) Miller.
He was a Christian. As a youth Leo was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington.
He married Marjorie Hollingsworth, they later divorced. On June 12, 1982 he married Gwen Marshall at West Hill United Methodist Church in Burlington, where they both attended for over thirty years. Leo served as a Trustee and helped with many projects for the church.
Mr. Miller was a 1946 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a World War II Navy Seabees Veteran where he served helping to rebuild Guam. Mr. Miller was Assistant Battalion Chief of the Burlington Fire Department, retiring in 1983 after 33 years, 8 months, and 7 days of service. He retired from Iowa Fire Fighters Association.
Leo loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, hunting, camping and bicycle riding. He was an awesome story teller. In 1953 he saved the lives of a prominent local couple from drowning Arthur (Joe)

In 1953 he saved the lives of a prominent local couple from drowning when their boat caught fire. A former member of Bike Burlington, he challenged friends to a double century (200 mile) bicycle ride to celebrate his 60th birthday. Leo made the plans and mapped a successful ride. In his eighties Leo would easily ride two plus miles every day. In retirement Leo developed an interest in wood carving. He was very artistic. Leo was a talented carpenter and builder, volunteering time and labor helping friends and family in building projects. Whatever he did, he did well and lasting.
Leo and Gwen sponsored Fabio Quirez, a student from Medellin Columbia, South America in their home in 1989. There’s still a strong bond with Fabio and his family. Leo and Gwen spent two weeks in Medellin, Columbia with Fabio and his family in 1990.
When faced with cancer his 86th year he endured the successful treatment with courage and determination. Cancer treatments left him uncomfortable with serious health issues that he lived with until the end of his life.
Survivors include his wife Gwen Miller; two daughters, Becky Washington of Burlington, Jeri Miller of West Burlington; one son, Kelly Miller of Burlington; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Miller of rural Sperry; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jean Brissey; and two brothers, Floyd (Joe) and Arthur Miller.
Visitation will be Monday, November 6, 9-11 a.m. at West Hill United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Bracht-Wagner and Pastor Simeon Counterman officiating. Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. A luncheon will be held following the services. Interment will be in Montrose Cemetery. A memorial has been established for West Hill United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jeri L. Moberg, 64, of Burlington died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at her sister’s residence.
Born August 23, 1953 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Delbert Milton and Bonnie Jean (Remaly) Diercks. On April 28, 1973 she married Dean Robert Moberg in Burlington. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2016.
Her family moved from Burlington to Bremerton, WA, San Diego, CA, and Charleston, S.C. before returning back to Burlington. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1971.
Jeri held many positions including hairstylist and stay-at-home mom. She was later employed at Winegard and operated an in-home upholstery business before pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Iowa Wesleyan. She graduated Cum Laude in 1992 with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Jeri then went on to hold the position of Des Moines County Landfill Superintendent including operating all large vehicles. She also was involved in extensive work in quality control for the painting industry. She held a job at GE, which led her to an Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering. She was personnel manager and retired from COBO International after implementing several of her quality control techniques. Jeri served on the BHS class of 1971 reunion committee, and was a Worthy Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She played violin and was the vocalist in several bands.
Along with her husband, she was a member of Fer Sure, Hot Rose and Cross River Alliance, where both children were in the band with Jeri and Dean.
Survivors include one son, Robert Alan (Trisha Marie) Moberg of Burlington; one daughter, Kendra Louise Moberg of Burlington; Three grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, and Jaiden Stuart, all of Burlington; her mother, Bonnie of Burlington; one brother, Ronald (Donna) Diercks of Burlington; two sisters, Becky Kemp and Amy Jo Martin, both of Burlington; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, infant sister, and two nephews, Carl Justin Mundt and Cody Norton.
Jeri’s end of life care was given by her three siblings.
Friends may call after noon on Monday, November 6 at Lunning Chapel. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice, Toys for Tots, Shannondale United Church of Christ in Salem, MO.
