Dorcas J. Gray, 94, of Burlington, died at 10:45 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Montebello Health Care Center in Hamilton, IL.
Born March 30, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles Edward and Olga M. Heid Werner. On June 28, 1947, she married Page G. Gray in Burlington, Iowa. They later divorced.
Dorcas worked at Midwest Biscuit Co., Burlington Instrument Co., was a Home Health Aide and worked in the dietary department at the Burlington Care Center.
She was a member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, dancing, fishing, and watching NASCAR, as a huge Jeff Gordon fan and later cheered for Kyle Busch’s #18 car. She always took pride in a clean home which she maintained on her own. She also loved listening to country music, especially Alan Jackson. Dorcas had been a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara (Randy) Brown of Davenport, Beverly (Rick) Markey of Carthage, IL, and, Karen (Tim) Barker of Eldon, MO; two sons, Michael (Shirlee) Gray of Peyton, CO, Mark Gray of Burlington; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Elsworth and Eugene Werner, and her twin sister, Doris Smith.
The funeral service for Mrs. Gray will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Father Bill Roush officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Unity Point Hospice and Divine Mercy Parish.
