Obituaries Monday March 19th

Shirley Kindig, 90, of Burlington, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE.

Born March 1, 1927, in Macomb, IL, she was the daughter of Morris Delbert and Mary Ethaleen (Durr) Payne. On June 9, 1946, she married William Orville Kindig in Burlington. They were married 70 years.

Mrs. Kindig worked at Champion Spark Plug for 30 years.

She was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling and spent their winters in Apache Junction, AZ. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries and liked cooking and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include one daughter, Beth (Jared) Carstensen of Omaha, NE; one son, Todd (Mariana) Kindig of Parker, CO; one granddaughter, Lindsay Grimes of Omaha; one great-grandson, Carsen Grimes of Omaha; one sister, Diana (John) Romine of Farmington, NM, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

The memorial service for Mrs. Kindig will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. A reception will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service.

A memorial has been established for the Josie Harper Hospice House; located at, 7415 Cedar St, Omaha, NE 68124.
