James G. Pullins, age 61, of Stronghurst, IL passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at University Of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. He was born January 17, 1957 in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of Louis and Diane Freitag Pullins. On May 19, 2007, he married Peggy Carnes in Stronghurst.

Mr. Pullins lived in Macomb, IL for several years where he managed the Hardees Restaurant and also worked as a woodworker and cook. He was a former member and deacon of the First Christian Church in Macomb, the Macomb Jaycees, Macomb Lions Club, and was a current member of the Stronghurst Christian Church. He was proud to have been involved in, and taught, the Dale Carnegie Enrichment Program in Macomb for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy, one daughter, Krista (Ben) Ellington of Bushnell, IL, two sons, Zach Swisher of Chatham, IL, Michael (Kelley) Dupree of LaBelle, FL, his father, Louis Pullins of Naples, FL, his mother, Diane Kautz of Greeley, CO, six grandchildren, Dylan, J.T., and Caylin Dupree, Gracelyn, Frances and Violet Ellington, one sister, Debbie (Roy) Breen of Greeley, CO, one brother, John (Pam) Pullins of Fountain, CO, and one half-sister, Tammy Delvasto of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by a sister, Adele Pullins and a half-brother, Rick Pullins.

The funeral service for Mr. Pullins will be at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday May 8, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the M.S.T.
