Obituaries for Friday October 7th

Michael LaVahn Henderson, 74, of New London, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City. He was born in Hawthorne, Nevada on March 5, 1948 to Thomas and Wanda “Dutch” McCrady Seeley and was raised by his mother and his father Miles Henderson who adopted him.
He was a 1966 graduate of New London High School. He was an Airborne Infantry Pathfinder for two tours in Vietnam. He received several medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a pipe fitter and belonged to the local 212 and retired from the local 225.
Michael married Elizabeth Ann Garvey and they raised their six children together before divorcing. He then married Hazel Johnson who preceded him in death. He spent his final years with his companion, Phyllis Cox in New London.
He was raised in the Methodist church but later joined the Catholic church; was a member of New London VFW Post #7641 and American Legion; enjoyed riding his Harley, working on old gas engines, hotrods, drag racing in high school, and time spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children Casey (Michele) Henderson of New London, Andrea (Sean) Perkins of Marion, North Carolina, Gabriel Henderson of Gulfport, Illinois, Nathaniel Henderson of North Liberty, Patrick (Ali) Henderson of New London, and Gretchen Henderson of Lexington, Kentucky; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; his special friend Phyllis Cox; brother Robert (Susan) Henderson of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; both fathers; wife Hazel; and two half-brothers.
According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and a private inurnment with military rites by the Henry County Honor Guard will be held at Burge Cemetery, rural New London. A Celebration of Life for Mr. Henderson will begin at noon on October 29, 2022 at New London VFW Post #7641. Margaret Edna Baughman Krow Search, 96, a long time resident of Gulfport, IL, passed away on October 6, 2022 at 1:37 a.m. at Oaklane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst. Margaret lived with her daughter, son in law and grandson for 9 years in rural Stronghurst until she moved to Oaklane in 2017.
She was Born June 4, 1926, to Perry James and Blanch Edna (Errickson) Baughman at the Misericordia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI
She married James Aaron Krow on June 27, 1946. He passed away March 11, 1970. They had 3 children: Jackie (Jack) Lee Krow (deceased), Sharon (Terry) Garner, and William (Bill) Krow (deceased).
On May 14, 1971 she married John Search. He passed away February 5, 1988.
Margaret worked at the Burlington Glove Factory, Sylvania and Leopolds in Burlington. She loved to crochet, make all sorts of crafts, and spend time with her family. She also loved her dog Mollie and cat Oreo. She loved to play bingo. One of her most favorite past times was dancing. She, and her husband John, took ballroom dance lessons. After he passed away she started line dancing. She was involved with the Henderson County Senior Citizens and their sewing group. Henderson County Senior Citizens would pick her up from her home to play bingo and have lunch in Gladstone. She was a very clean person. She loved to help people clean their house and shine all of their appliances with Jubilee. She also loved to go on vacations with anyone that invited her along. One of her favorite sayings was “Not bad for an old gal.” As a young child, due to her black hair, her nickname was “Blackie Baughman”. She loved ice cream, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, animals and country music.
She leaves behind her daughter and son in law: Sharon and Terry Garner of Stronghurst, IL., 2 step daughters: Linda (Ken) Carlson of Indiana, and Valerie Search of Bettendorf, IA.
She leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Stacy (Ken) Laffoon, Jim Garner, Kevin (Cory)Moore, Danise (Shane) Taylor, Jason (Caroline) Krow, Aaron Krow, and Justin (Alexsis) Krow. 5 Step grandchildren: Serena King, Ben King, Yvonne Morrow, Olin (Sara) Morrow, Dorothy (Alan) Riedford.
She also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, with 2 on the way, 2 step great great grandchildren , and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sons, three sisters: Louise Krow of Gulfport, IL, Marcia Baughman of Burlington, and Lois Waterman of rural Stronghurst, grandson: Jace Garner, great grandson: Robbie Vice, great grandson: Christian Garner, nephew: David Krow, and step daughter: Sylvia King.
The funeral for Margaret will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Carman Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. Wayne LeRoy Crawley, 72, of Burlington, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born January 4, 1950, in Ottumwa, IA, was the son of Gilbert and Anna Annis Crawley. On January 9, 1970, he married Debra Sue Keever in Biggsville Church.

He worked in Sanitation and the Parks Department for the City of Burlington over 28 years.

Wayne was a backyard mechanic and known to race his car down Jefferson evening when he was younger. He enjoyed watching wrestling and was very ornery. He loved to give people a hard time.

Survivors include his wife, Deb of Burlington; son, Steven (LenRose) Crawley; nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four siblings, Gil Crawley of TN, Roy Crawley of TX, Donna Crawley and Vickie Ruby both of Iowa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Crawley, brother, Ed Crawley, grandparents, and great-grandparents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A private family service will be held.

David F. Everett, 70, of Conesville, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. Interment will be held at the Conesville Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, October 10, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic Rites performed at 7:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Conesville Fire Department and Shriners Children’s Hospital. David Fredrick Everett was born August 23, 1952 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Irvin Fredrick “Freddy” and Beverly Ann (Pine) Everett. He graduated from Columbus Community Schools. David was united in marriage to Marcia Marie Lewis on December 3, 1977 in Columbus Junction. David worked on a drilling rig with R.W. Sitton and in the telephone communication field for several years. He was a member of the Columbus City Masonic Lodge #107 Scottish Rite, KAABA Shriners, Ducks Unlimited, NRA and a member of the Conesville Volunteer Fire Department. David enjoyed hunting, especially duck hunting, fishing, tinkering in the garage and creating things with duct tape. He coached little league and worked in the pits at Columbus Junction Raceway.

David will be dearly missed by his wife, Marcia Everett of Conesville; two daughters, Lindsey (Eric) DeWall of Palmer and Stacey (Troy) House of Conesville; one grandson, Eli DeWall; mother, Beverly England of Zellwood, FL and siblings, Douglas (Cindy) Everett of Ocala, FL, Duane (Laura) Everett of Leesburg, FL, Connie (Dany) Clark of Columbus Junction, Kathy (Ed) Erickson of New Boston, and Karen (Harlan) Warnstaff of Conesville.

David was preceded in death by his father.

Keith L. Andre, 80, of Burlington, died Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at his home.
Born July 11, 1942, in Moline, Illinois, he was the son of George and Charlotte (Partlow) Andre. He served in the Marines during the invasion of Bay of Pigs.
He married Sandy Krell on August 5, 1985, in Burlington. He worked as a logger in California, a commercial fisherman and served with ADDS and Woodlands Treatment Center. He previously served on the YMCA Camp Board of Directors.
Keith was an avid outdoorsman. He loved all types of hunting and of course fishing. He loved helping people, and for many years attended Alcoholics Anonymous and sponsored many people. In his younger years, he was a bull rider, and rode in the Marine Rodeo.
He is survived by his wife; Sandy Krell-Andre of Burlington; five children; Terri Goodwin of Michigan, Tammy Bush of Nevada, Chris Sasfy- Dean (Matt) of Illinois and Tobin (Mollie) Krell and Zach Andre both of Burlington; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one brother, Gary Andre of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Buster Andre.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. October 16th at the Homestead 1839, 701 West Agency St., West Burlington.
According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Keith Charles Harte, 79, of Burlington, died Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 6, 1943, in Seattle, WA, he was the son of Charles A. and Evelyn Davies Harte. On May 19, 1978, he married Jeanne Ebert in Bakersfield, CA.

Keith worked as a Union Carpenter for 50 years.

He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from January 10, 1963 until January 9, 1967.

Keith was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Fishing was Keith’s all time favorite activity. He also enjoyed gambling and going to yard sales and thrift stores. He was a bargain hunter, always looking for a great deal.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Harte of Burlington; two daughters, Jenifer (Scott) Moore of Guadalupe, CA and Amanda (Mark) Luster of Burlington; six grandchildren, Alexandria, Krystyn, and Mytchal
(Justine) Moore, Michayla Harte, Faith and Hunter Luster; three great-grandchildren, Remi Jo, Alykzander Moore and Mila Luster.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dannie Ray Sargent, 71, of Burlington, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born November 22, 1950, in LaHarpe, Illinois, he was the son of Kenneth Sargent and Don “Bo” and Vera Jean (Schoch) Ikerd.
He was a 1968 graduate of Carthage High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He married Pam Wells, they later divorced. He then married Becky Jean Givans, she died June 14, 2009.
Dannie worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 24 years.
He loved crossword puzzles, watching westerns and gameshows and listening to classic rock. He was very sociable, yet ornery, and enjoyed making his rounds, teasing people. He was kind, selfless, and had the biggest heart.
He is survived by his three children; Shane Sargent of Rushville, Illinois, Jesse Sargent and Samantha Sargent both of Burlington; five grandchildren, Emily, Kadira, Draven, Ramona and Orion; siblings, Connie Cutts, Ricky Sargent, Kendall Sargent, Debbie Bundy, Brent Ikerd and Scott Ikerd and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, and two sisters, Bonnie Mays and Peggy Sargent.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8th at Lunning Chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 7th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
