Joe W. Worley, 77, of Lomax, Illinois, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.
Joe was born September 25, 1945 in LaHarpe, Illinois the son of Henry Virgil and Hazel May (Torrence) Worley. On July 15, 1970 he married Marcia Stull at the Lomax Nazarene Church.
Joe was raised and educated in Lomax. He worked as an Iron Worker with the Local 577 for many years. He also worked as a farm hand for several local farmers. He enjoyed hunting, especially coon hunting. He won several competition hunts over the years. Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marcia, four children: Jo Ann Worley, Adam and Andy Worley all of Lomax and Amber Worley of Ft. Madison, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Austin, Kristen, Chadlin, Josie, Henry, Cheyan, Caden, Catlyn, Christian and Seth; seven great-grandchildren: Hunter, Adalee, Maverick, Chad, Averie, Patience and Vaughn; one sister Sally Maynard and two brothers; Nick and Gene Roark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: James Warren Worley; one sister: Judy Grisham and two brothers: Gilbert and Maurice Worley.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Pontoosuc Community Church.
The funeral service for Mr. Worley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Pontoosuc Community Church. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Leona L. Huebner, 96, of Burlington died Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her residence.
Born May 20, 1926 in rural Ft Madison, she was the daughter of Harry James and Hilda (Grimwood) Westfall.
On June 17, 1945 she married Jack Huebner in Quincy, IL. He died march 27, 1989.
Leona worked for Shaeffer Pen Co, drove a stock truck for years and worked for Winegard Co. For the last 25 years she was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping and gardening.
Survivors include her children Garry (Joanie) Huebner of Bellevue, IL, Gerald Huebner of Burlington, Peggy (Leonard) Piper of Hills, IA, and Pamela Huebner of Burlington; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers and sisters.
The graveside service for Leona will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 24th at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Jane Irene (Downes) Hummell, 75, of Burlington, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the Danville Care Center in Danville.
Born April 2, 1947, in Monmouth, IL, she was the daughter of Maurice Roger and Grace Ketchum Downes and grew up on a farm in Henderson County, IL. On August 18, 1968, she married Jerry Gordon Hummell in Rozetta Baptist Church in Little York, IL. They had one son together, Jason Hummell. On October 30, 2017, Jerry passed away.
She graduated from Union High School in Biggsville, IL in 1965 and moved to Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from Burlington Business College and lived the rest of her adult life.
She worked in the business offices of various companies, including J.I. Case and Chittenden and Eastman, until they closed. She then began work as a para-educator in the Burlington Community School District, working with severe and profoundly disabled children, a job she loved, until she retired in 2009. She was also a talented baker; working from home, she decorated and sold fancy cakes and cookies for all occasions.
Jane was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday School for more than 20 years, worked in the nursery, and worked with Awana youth. She enjoyed socializing with her Red Hat sisters, traveling with her sister, Bonnie, reading romance novels, watching old TV shows and John Wayne movies, and playing with her cat, Kitty.
She is survived by her son, Jason Gordon Hummell of Burlington; grandson, Evan Nichols-Green of Pana, IL; two sisters, Marie Dilts and Bonnie Downes of Burlington; brother-in-law, Fred Hummell of Burlington; nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elaine, and brother-in-law, Richard Dilts.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The memorial service for Mrs. Hummell will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Mary Ann Frank, 92, of Burlington, formerly of Oakville died Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born November 30, 1930 in Burlington she was the daughter of Charles and Martha (Glenn) Bailey.
Mary graduated from Huron High School. She married Norman Frank on August 5, 1951 in Mediapolis. He died December 29, 2019.
Mary was a homemaker and a bookkeeper. She enjoyed helping her husband, Norman on the farm and raising her family.
She loved to garden and grow flowers. Mary enjoyed entertaining, sewing and reading. Mary loved to play baseball and her dad lovingly referred to her as Amos!
Survivors include her children Carol Kuntz of Mediapolis and Cory Frank of Oakville; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ann Frank of Waynesboro, VA, Ellen Frank of Mt. Pleasant, Ruth Pflederer of Tremont, IL, Betty Frank of Nashville, TN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Craig; a grandson; two sisters Dorothy Buhmeyer and Marcia Slight.
The funeral service for Mary will be 10:00 am Friday, March 24th at the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church. The ministers of the church will officiate. Interment will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery rural Oakville. Visitation will be 4 to 7pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Lunning Chapel and 9 to 9:45 am Friday at Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Harvest Call and the Mediapolis Library.

Connie Sue Sims, 75, of Kansas and formerly Burlington, Iowa, died Monday, February 27, 2023 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Foley, Alabama.
She was born August 27, 1947 in Canton, Illinois to Ivan Nathanial and Geraldine Lucyle Brown Baughman. She was a graduate of Galesburg High School. On July 20, 1968 she married Jerry Lee Sims in Galesburg. She did office work and retired from Mackay Envelope.
Connie was a member of Covenant Church in Topeka, Kansas. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, sewing, reading, RVing with her husband, tending to her African violets, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of Melvern Lake, Kansas; two daughters, Julie (Ed) Earhart and Brenda (Bruce) Hunter, both of Burlington; six grandchildren, Breanna Purvis, Brittany Earhart, Lorraine Emde, Matthew Earhart, Zach Hunter and Abby Hunter; four great-grandchildren, Charli Connor, Alexis Emde, Finley Emde, and Emma Purvis; and one brother Raymond (Cindy) Baughman of Galesburg. Her parents and sister Linda Mason preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 9 am, April 15, 2023 at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family receiving friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, with a graveside service immediately following at Burge Cemetery. Steven Paul Polson, 74, of Burlington, died Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home in Burlington.
Born November 19, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of Lois Darlene Polson. He married Debra Benedict on July 27, 1974 at the First Baptist Church in Burlington. She passed away October 31, 2033. Steven later married Kimberly Benish on August 23, 2013 at their home in Burlington.
He graduated from Stronghurst High School in 1968 and later completed some skill classes at SCC.
He was a US Navy Veteran, serving in the Coral Sea on an aircraft carrier for three tours in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972.
Steven was a Supervisor for Case Company and retired after 30 years.
He was a member of Carthage Lake Club. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating. Steven loved spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Polson of Burlington; daughter, Jamie (Tony) Lambert of Pleasant Hill, MO; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his mother.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The memorial service for Mr. Polson will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery.
