Reva E. Peterson, 98, of Stronghurst, IL passed away at 10:45 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Oak Wood Estates in Stronghurst.

Reva was born on November 29, 1918 in rural Henderson County to Elmer E. And Mabel E. Rucker White. On April 6, 1938 she married Ralph L. Peterson in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1995.

Reva was a 1937 graduate of the Terre Haute High School. She worked as a cook for the Stronghurst and Southern Schools for 27 years. She enjoyed quilting and needlework, and was an outstanding cook and baker. She was an avid Mexican Train and Pitch player. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Stronghurst, BLCW, Esther Unit, and the Stronghurst Senior Citizens. Reva loved to travel as well as having company.

Reva is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Davy) Gerst of Lomax, IL, a son James (Janice) Peterson of Stronghurst, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Annabelle White of Stronghurst.

She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, Robert Ralph, parents, and four brothers, Hollis, Lyman, Gordon and Robert White.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Stronghurst with Pastor Terry Muller officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Friends may call any time after 3:00 PM Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Carl Edwin Dunn, 86, of Burlington, passed away on September 6, 2017.

Born November 1, 1930, in Canby, MN, he was the son of Edwin Joseph and Helen Skorseth Dunn. He married Marlene Kinney on April 29, 1961 in Des Moines.

Mr. Dunn was a graduate of Johnston, Iowa High School in 1948, the Seventh Army NCO Academy in 1951, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in 1958.

He served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1954 and in the Iowa National Guard until 1968.

He worked as a computer programmer and database administrator for Maytag Corporation and J.I. Case Corporation.

He was an avid chess player and served a term as President of the Iowa State Chess Association. He spent his retirement years researching family history and ancestry and was an active member of the Devon England Family History Society.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years; four children, Steven Dunn of San Luis Obispo, CA; Christy (Mark) Corzine of Golden Valley, MN, Stacy (Todd) Dunn of Saint Paul, MN, Jennifer (Allen) Grilliot of Saint Paul, MN; six grandchildren, Samantha, Sabrina, & Sheridan Dunn, Joseph Corzine, Ellen Dunn, and Helena Grilliot; two sisters, Susan Wilson of Des Moines, and Kathleen Kendrick of Gunbarrel, TX; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jean, and one son, Michael.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

Private services will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling in Minnesota.
