Jean Arline “Bonnie” Stout , 90, of Burlington, died at 3:10 AM Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 22, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John E. and Ida W. Hagemeier Schwebel.
Bonnie worked for Mason & Hanger-Silas Mason Company, Inc. for 34 years retiring in 1992 as a Senior Secretary.
She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Disciple Women’s Fellowship and Martha Group, and Empty Nesters Circle of Friends Group.She also volunteered at Great River Medical Center and drove for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). She enjoyed being with her family and friends, watching Hawkeye basketball, golf, bowling and dancing. She also loved gardening and flowers, roller skating, taking walks in Crapo Park and was always interested in her grandchildren’s activities. She was an avid animal lover and belonged to the Animal Protection League and the S.T.O.P.P.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Kevin) Keasling of Burlington; one son, Perry A Stout of Iowa City; two granddaughters, Auburn (Daryn) Harwood of Danville, and Hannah (Bill) Nickelsen of Burlington; one great-grandson Samuel; and her beloved dog, Sadie Ray.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John “Jack” Schwebel.
A Celebration of Life for Ms. Stout will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 4, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the service.
A memorial has been established in her name for Crapo Park.
