John Floyd Hester, 80, of Burlington died Friday, July 1, 2022 at his sister’s home.
Born May 16, 1942 in Burlington, he was the son of John Earl and Charlotte (Sodergren) Hester.
John was a Truck Driver for Winegard Company for many years.
John loved to travel. He was a history buff and movie buff. He loved his cats, Bridgit, Chloe, Tommy, Andre and Ginger and enjoyed landscaping and yard work.
Survivors include his children Robin (Roger) Nevling of Monmouth, Lisa (Dave) Patrick of Wapello, Michele (Kenny) Powell of Wapello and John Hester of Burlington; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one sister Carolyn Fullenkamp of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Mark Rice and one grandson Andrew Palmer.
A graveside service and inurnment for John will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 7th at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Ryan Cosgrove will officiate.
Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Larry “Moose” Foster, 81, of Gladstone, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Monmouth Care Center in Monmouth, Illinois.
Born December 16, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of Wilbur Dell and Dorothy Mae (Montgomery) Foster. He married Charlotte Kay Bielser on March 16, 1963 in Biggsville, Illinois. She died November 11, 2020.
Larry retired from J. I. Case after 30 years service and then went to work for Twomey Company in Gladstone for another 15 years.
He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Larry loved to golf and could often be found on Hend-Co Hills golf course twice a day after his “second” retirement. He was an avid reader and was one of the Henderson County Public Library’s best customers. Larry will be remembered by his family and friends as an extremely loyal and hardworking gentleman. He was smart as a whip, generous to a fault, loved animals, and cried at sad movies. He could be stubborn and always had an opinion to share, but his was a very soft, caring heart. He loved to debate, especially politics, always stood up for what he believed in, was a champion of the underdog, believed in equal rights for all, and was TRUE BLUE from head to toe. He was truly one of a kind. He was very proud of both of his kids and his granddaughter, but great granddaughter Oaklee hung the moon!
He is survived by his daughter Stacey Foster of Burlington; granddaughter Erin Foster of New London; great granddaughter Oaklee Foster of New London; grand dog Rocco; two sisters, Charlotte Coursey of Burlington and Mary Taylor of Banning, California; brother Richard “Pee Wee” (Diana) Foster of Oquawka, Illinois, many special nieces and nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte, son Brian, and three sisters, Katherine, Shirley and Loretta.
The visitation for Larry will be 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6th at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will not be a funeral service.
Memorials have been established for the Henderson County Health Department and the Henderson County Public Library.
Cremation will be accorded following the visitation and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, Illinois.

The Celebration Of Life for Mrs. Bonnie L. Thomas, 85, of Mount Pleasant, who died Thursday, June 23, 2022 will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Ashford Park Clubhouse, 1801 E. Ashford Avenue, Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 2 p.m. Elliott Chapel, New London, was in charge of local arrangements.
James F Barr, 90, of Burlington, died at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun.
Born December 16, 1931, in Burlington, he was the son of Mark Chester and Ruth Wilke Barr.
James worked in transportation for CB&Q RR Freight Agent, he was a Traffic Manager for United Facilities, Junior Traffic Manager for Grain Processing in Muscatine, and Gail Products in Galesburg.
Survivors include his friends, Caleb (Abby) Larson of Mediapolis, IA, and their children, Walker and Kase Larson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the Larson family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
There will be a private funeral service for Mr. Barr at a later date. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
