Lynn Dee Volner, 50, of New London, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospital, West Burlington. She was born in Iowa City on December 2, 1974 to Joey Dale and Debra Lynn Norton Ferguson. On May 28, 2011, she married Brock DeWayne Volner at Faith Christian Outreach Center in Mt. Pleasant.
She was a 1993 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and studied child ministry at Rhema Bible College, Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Center where she was involved with the children’s ministry and enjoyed being very active in all church activities.
Lynn enjoyed being with family, especially her grandson, Liam; camping; fishing; music; butterflies; traveling with Brock in the semi; and liked anything green, as it was her favorite color.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters Chelsey Ann Ferguson of Burlington, and Cierra Lynn and Abbygale Jean Volner both of New London; grandson Liam; her mother Debra Ferguson of Ft. Madison; brother Aaron (Kimberly) Ferguson of Mediapolis; sister Michelle Ferguson of Ft. Madison; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and her best friends, Barbara Bruner Valentine and Stacey Vroom Swanson. Her father preceded her in death.
According to her wishes her body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Elliott Chapel, New London, with Pastor Monte Knudson officiating. David Franklin Brown, 78, of Danville, died Monday, March 31, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington. He was born in Burlington on November 7, 1946 to Virril Franklin and Exxa Lou “Peggy” Garland Brown. He was a 1965 graduate of Wapello High School and then joined the United States Marines, serving in Vietnam from 1965 – 1968.
In 1967 he married Susan Small; they later divorced. On May 7, 1998 he married Kathryn Gerst at City Hall in Mt. Pleasant. Dave was the assistant manager of the New London Coop for many years; manager of the Danville Coop; and retired as head of maintenance for Raider’s Precast Concrete. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Burlington and a life time member of the New London VFW #7641. Before his declining health, he enjoyed attending events at Memorial Auditorium and Fairfield Arts and Convention Center; loved dancing with his wife; and enjoyed watching sports, especially football.
Dave is survived by his wife Kathy of Danville; son Shannon (Heidi) Brown of La Vernia, Texas; three stepsons, David Fletcher of Cedar Rapids, Robert Fletcher of Morning Sun and Kenny Fletcher of Wapello; granddaughter Courtney Lynn Fletcher who he helped raise; grandson Jonny Salvador; great-granddaughter Thea Jordan Salvador; one brother Jerry Brown of Winfield; two sisters Louanne Whitehair of Burlington and Jane Armstrong of Loveland, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Virril; his mother and step-father Peggy and Forrest Hunt; daughter Letha Brown; and two brothers, Danny and Jim.
A Celebration of Life for David and his daughter Letha Brown, who died December 3, 2024, will be held June 7, 2025 at the New London VFW Post #7641; 802 E. McKinley, New London; from 2:30 – 4:00 pm. The Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League will present military rites at 4:00 pm. Memorials to honor both David and Letha have been established for the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League or Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.

Fred Miles, 77, of West Burlington, died Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born October 20, 1947, in Oak Park, IL, he was the son of William Frederick and Eunice Marie Gropp Miles. On May 22, 1976, he married Susan Mary Klein in Berwyn, IL. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2013. On October 9, 2016, he married Tammy Bartosik in Concordia Lutheran Church in Burlington.
He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from December 5, 1967 until December 4, 1973. Fred was highly decorated for his service during the war.
Fred worked for 42 years as a lineman for the Indian Harbor Belt Railroad Company before retiring in 2009.
He was of Lutheran Missouri Synod faith and was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Burlington. Fred was also a member of the American Legion International. He enjoyed playing with model trains, coin collecting, going to the Riverside Casino and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include wife, Tammy Miles of West Burlington; son, Matthew Miles of Virginia; five grandchildren, Hailey, Lily, April Stoffle and Jayden and Maci Love; brother, Bill Miles of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Susan Mary Klein.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, April 14, 2025 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mr. Miles will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Christopher Roepke officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the ALS Association or the family has requested that you plant a tree in Fred’s memory.

Emelia was born June 22, 1946 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Madsen) Morton. Earlier in life she married Wendell Tate. They later divorced.
She enjoyed reading, fishing and crocheting. She donated her crocheted blankets and clothing to those in need.
Survivors include two children: Dallas Tate of LaHarpe, Illinois and Loretta (Chad) Pence of Lomax; five grandchildren: Frances, Kyle, Dana, Alyssa and Jessica; six great-grandchildren and one sister: Dixie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Peggy, Marlene, Sanford, Mort and Dallas.

Darin was born December 10, 1966 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Jerry L. and Anna Maisie (Benda) Gentry.
Mr. Gentry was raised and educated in Dallas City. He graduated from Dallas City High School in 1985. Following high school, he attended Carl Sandburg College before beginning a career at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gaming, and especially trucks and cars. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his brother: Bryon (Teresa) Gentry of Burlington, Iowa, one nephew: Trevor Gentry and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ferlin Patrick Edgington, 67, of New London, died Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington. He was born September 16, 1957 in Ft. Madison to Edsel Burl and Carla Jean Kinsinger Edgington. He married Robin Jones and they later divorced.
Ferlin was a 1976 graduate of New London High School and attended Southeastern Community College. He helped his brother Larry farm and also drove a semi.
He enjoyed his dogs, especially Brutus; watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes; racing; talking politics; and trips to Cantril with Roma.
Those left behind to mourn him include his sister Roma Edgington of New London; his brother Wendell (Connie) Edgington of Ft. Madison; sister-in-law Tina Edgington of Mt. Pleasant; two sons Christopher of Burlington and Joshua of Mt. Pleasant; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his good friend Lisa DuPree of New London. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Gary and Larry.
